Privacy Policy

METAR Maid has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of its own. Nothing you do in the app is collected by us, because there is nowhere for it to go.

What we collect

Nothing. Good Dog Solutions operates no server, no database and no logging infrastructure for this app. We cannot see your favourite airports, your location, or whether you use the app at all.

The app contains no analytics or advertising SDKs, no crash-reporting service, and no third-party code that transmits data.

What stays on your device

All of your data is stored locally, in the app's own sandboxed container:

• Your favourite stations — the identifiers you added, their order, and the airport names learned from previous reports.
• Recently viewed stations.
• Cached weather — the most recent observations and forecasts, so the app can display something the instant you raise your wrist. Cached data older than six hours is discarded.

Deleting the app removes all of it. There is no copy anywhere else.

What leaves your device

The app talks to exactly one service: aviationweather.gov, the Aviation Weather Center operated by the United States National Weather Service. All requests use HTTPS.

These requests carry no identifier for you, your device or your installation. We do not add one, and there is no account to attach them to.

Location

Location is used for one feature: finding reporting stations near you. If you never use Nearby, the app never asks for your location.

When you do, three things are worth knowing, stated plainly:

• The app requests “While Using the App” access only. It never asks for background or always-on location.
• It asks iOS for kilometre-level accuracy — the coarsest setting that can still find airports near you. It does not request precise location.
• Your position is converted into a rectangle roughly 75 nautical miles in each direction, and that rectangle is sent to aviationweather.gov. Because the rectangle is centred on you, it does indicate approximately where you are, to about a kilometre. We would rather say so than claim otherwise.

Your location is not stored on the device, not written to the cache, and not sent anywhere other than the weather request that needs it. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings; the rest of the app continues to work.

Apple Watch

Your favourites list syncs between your iPhone and your paired Apple Watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. The payload is station identifiers and their order — nothing else. It travels between your own two devices over Apple's link, and does not pass through any server of ours.

Third parties

Requests to aviationweather.gov are subject to that service's own practices, which we do not control. Like any web server, it may record the requests it receives, including the originating IP address. It is a United States government service; its privacy notice is published on its own site.

There are no other third parties. No advertising networks, no analytics providers, no data brokers, no tracking of any kind — across this app or any other.

Children

METAR Maid is a tool for pilots and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes affecting how data is handled will be noted in the app's release notes.
